CUB-1 Cellular Uplink Buoy
Sonotronics introduces the CUB-1 cellular uplink buoy. This system is designed to interface with an SUR-1 receiver allowing for a cell phone text messages, emails, and PC communication to take place upon animal detection.
The SUR-CUB integrated system is a low cost solution to real time automated tracking.
This technology has developed in response to a need for real time knowledge of an animals presence in an area, and researchers desire to be aware of the activity in an area without being onsite.
A GPS integration option is available allowing the CUB's GPS position to be transmitted along with other data.
The CUB-1 system consists of a cellular modem, on board battery, and electronics boards.
Each CUB-1 is set up in a very similar manner as a cell phone to the Sprint or Verizon networks. It requires only a low cost cell phone connection and available coverage on the Sprint or Verizon networks.
Operation: The CUB-1 is connected by a cable to an SUR receiver moored to the seabed. Upon animal detection by the SUR, the CUB-1 sends out text messages to any text message enabled cell phone. It will also make calls on a schedule to upload collected data to a PC.
